General Note"This document records the location of the Portage Path in relation to Akron and Summit County in the year 2002." The Path was an Indian trail which "became an important historic geographic landmark when the trail was defined as a part of a treaty boundary line between Indian lands and territory of the United States." The Yeck Family Portage Path Memorial Program was founded to mark the trail, and "the Summit County Historical Society directed the program with the cooperation of the City of Akron and Metro Parks Serving Summit County" (All quotations are from the book's introduction).
