The diary was written by Patrick Breen who gave it to George McKinstry, Jr., and it was published in the Nashville (Tenn.) Whig, Sept. 4, 1847. The above was reprinted from the St. Louis Reveille and Dollar Newspaper, 1847, and signed by George McKinstry, Jr., who transmitted the diary for publication.--cf.
