|Title||Pierce's register. "Register of the certificates issued by John Pierce, esquire, Paymaster General and Commissioner of Army Accounts for the United States," to officers and soldiers of the Continental Army under act of July 4, 1783. |
|Description||p. 149-712 24 cm. |
|General Note||From a ms. copy of the original, with the names in alphabetic arrangement. The register gives only the name of the officer or soldier to whom the certificate was issued, but does not show his rank, regiment or state. Prefixed is a key which shows the state and in some cases the regiment of the men whose names appear in the list. A few copies of the register were printed for official use in 1786, with entries of certificates in numerical order. |
