The "Account" was written as a vindication of the colony and the Oglethorpe administration from the aspersions of malcontents, and especially as a reply to "A true and historical narrative" drawn up by P. Tailfer and others. The "Account" is signed (p. 41): By order of the Trustees, Benj. Martyn, secretary.
