"E. R. and S. S. undoubtedly stand for Edward Rawson and Samuel Sewall, as Palfrey, III, 514, states."--W. H. Whitmore (Andros tracts, 1868, v. 1, p. 69) The authorship has also been ascribed to Increase Mather.
The original edition of 1691 did not include the "Narrative," which was issued separately in that year, signed by William Stoughton and four others.
