"Until the summer of 1929, when the county court minute book of 1763 of the county court of Culpeper county, Virginia, was discovered in an old residence in Culpeper, Va., there were, for many years, no pre-revolutionary court minute books in the clerk's office of Culpeper county, and this is the only one now available. The first 270 pages of it are missing and the balance is badly mutilated".--p. [4]
