| Summary Note | Summary: Presents one individual's recollections of Shaker events since the founding of the order, especially in relation to New Lebanon, New York. Some chapters relate to Shaker industries and crafts, and others pertain to the manner of dress and of building, music, education, and diet. The account was begun in 1856, but the final chapter is "The church as it is, or was: December 31st, 1860." This chapter includes the layout of buildings of the First and Second Orders at New Lebanon, New York.
