This series was intended to continue the record of necrology which had formed a feature of the Gentleman's magazine up to 1869. An index for the period from 1869-1877 was projected by the society, but seems never to have been published. Indexes for 1878 and 1879 were issued in the appendixes of the Reports of the 1st-2d annual meetings of the Index Society (Publications IV, VII)
