The 1st part was translated from the Dutch by E. B. O'Callaghan and B. Fernow. Part II contains only the freemen under the charter, or legal voters, 1675-1776; for 1784-1866, in the absence of the official roll, it includes both charter freemen down to their discontinuance in 1816, and honorary freemen, or those granted the freedom of the city, to the last grant in 1866. Part III gives only the honorary freemen for the period. Part IV prints the only one preserved of four manuscript volumes formerly in the city archives.
