2	Title:	Hello Again Newsletter Records

	Abstract:	Hello Again was a newsletter published during World War II to maintain contact between Cleveland, Ohi,o area Jewish military personnel and their family and friends at home. The founders were Gene and Jerry Squires, Ralph Bing, and Leonard Perlick. As these men were inducted, other friends stepped in to publish the newsletter, including Babs Blaushild, Florence Rosen, Ivy Goldhamer, Dick and Jane Haber, and Renee Pollack Caplan. The mailing list grew to more than 400, and was eventually appended to many issues so that GIs could communicate directly with each other. Issues included articles and columns concerning the war from the perspective of the Cleveland home front, a gossip column, entertainment reviews, sports, news of Jewish communal activities, and first hand reports from the front by soldiers. The collection consists of newsletters, original correspondence from GIs, photographs, mailing lists, newspaper articles, and rosters.

3	Title:	Faye Sholiton Papers

	Abstract:	Faye Sholiton (b. 1948) is a Cleveland, Ohio-area playwright. Prior to writing plays, she was an award-winning journalist for local, regional and national publications, including the Cleveland Jewish News. She served as president of the Society of Professional Journalists from 1993-1994. Sholiton is a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, and she holds a master's degree in French language and literature from George Washington University. Sholiton's full-length works have been read or produced in more than three dozen venues throughout the country and have won more than twenty national honors. She has developed her work in the Cleveland Play House Playwrights' Unit since 1996 and in Dobama Theatre's Playwrights' Gym since 2009. She is a three-time winner of Individual Artist Grants from the Ohio Arts Council, and her plays have also won awards from the Dayton FutureFest, the Midwest Theatre Network New Play Festival, the Charlotte Festival of New American Plays, and the William & Arlene Lewis New Play Contest. Sholiton's works are largely about Jewish life in Cleveland. Her most successful plays, The Interview and V-E Day, relate to the history of World War II. The collection consists of of articles, correspondence, drafts, flier, newsletters, newspaper clippings, programs, proposals, scripts, and transcripts.

4	Title:	Goldenberg World War II Papers and Photographs

	Abstract:	Helen H. Goldenberg (b. 1921) was a resident of Cleveland, Ohio, who enlisted in the United States Army in May 1944, was trained at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, and served as a clerk/typist in the Women's Air Transport Command in Europe, December 1944 to April 1946. Her name was Helen Horovitz, but she changed her name to Helen Horton when she experienced anti-Semitic discrimination. She married David Goldenberg in 1947. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, pamphlets, a scrapbook, and photographs. The collection documents Helen Goldenberg's service in World War II, including military life at Fort Des Moines, and activities with the Air Transport Command, where she arranged for transport of injured personnel. The materials include a booklet relating to the WACS at Fort Des Moines and individual and group photographs of persons serving there in 1944. There also are portraits and views relating to the Women's Air Transport Command, and a family history relating to the Medalie family, 1967-1968.

5	Title:	Edith and Isadore Silverman Papers

	Abstract:	Edna and Isadore Silverman were a Jewish couple of Cleveland, Ohio. Edith was a member of the girls' social club, Phi Delis, in the 1930s. The club often participated in social activities with a Jewish boys' club, the Copains. They would have outings in various locales through the Cleveland area. Her husband, Isadore Silverman, served in the 470th Anti-Aircraft Battalion, Sept. 1943-Jan. 1946. He was trained at Camp Callan in California, 1943-1944, and was later stationed in New Guinea and Panay, 1944-1945. the collection consists of photographs, letters, telegrams, and newspaper clippings. The collection includes numerous portraits of Edith Silverman's "Phi Deli" outings (ca. 1930s) and portraits of Isadore Silverman's experiences in the United States and Asia (ca. World War II).

	Abstract:	David B. Guralnik was was an internationally-known lexicographer and the editor of the Webster's New World Dictionary, published by the World Publishing Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. He was also a leader in Cleveland, Ohio, Jewish communal organizations and activities, particularly known for his work preserving and using the Yiddish language. The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, programs, speeches, and writings.

	Abstract:	Michael Kowan and his wife, Rachel Howitz Kowan, owned and operated Kay's Book and Magazine Supermarket in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Michael served in World War II and was in England, 1943-1945. The collection consists of family materials, including photograph albums and volumes of Michael's poetry; scrapbooks of Michael and Rachel's travels, particularly to New York City; letters, photographs and articles relating to Kay's Book and Magazine Supermarket; and scrapbooks of souvenirs, photographs and letters relating to Michael's military service and London during World War II, including aerial shots taken in the skies of Great Britain during the war.

	Abstract:	The Jewish Community Federation is a central policy making and fundraising agency for the Jewish community of Cleveland, Ohio, which traces its origin to the Federation of the Jewish Charities of Cleveland (founded 1903). The Federation of the Jewish Charities of Cleveland changed its name to the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland in 1926, and in 1930, added a fundraising arm, the Jewish Welfare Fund of Cleveland. In 1951 the Jewish Welfare Federation merged with the Jewish Community Council to become the Jewish Community Federation. The collection consists of correspondence, trustee and committee minutes and reports, annual reports, surveys, membership lists, newspaper clippings, publications, research papers, and scrapbooks. The collection also includes material pertaining to the Federation and its antecedents, as well as to local, national, and international organizations with which the Federation was involved; and subjects of concern to the local Jewish community including the Jewish Welfare Fund. Also, there are numerous surveys, as well as a wide range of material relating to local, national, and international Jewish history.
