Their sons, Captain William Pinkerton and John Pinkerton, were farmers in Westmoreland County, but another son, David, migrated to Knox County, Ohio in the 1830s. The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, legal documents and military muster rolls. The collection consists primarily of sporadic correspondence between Pinkerton family members in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky.
