The collection consists of programs, anniversary folders, a 1970 inventory, yearbooks, bulletins, guest books, scrapbooks, and minutes which also contain correspondence, financial statements, and lists of officers, members and events.  Abstract:  The Kirtland Society of National Science was originally organized in 1845 by Jared P. Kirtland, John Lang Cassels, and Samuel St. John as the Cleveland Academy of Natural Sciences, Cleveland's first scientific organization. Renamed the Kirtland Society of Natural Science in 1869, this science society was organized with the aim of establishing a natural history museum. In 1876, it opened a museum in Case Hall on Cleveland's Public Square which contained the bird and mammal collection of William Case, the bird collection of R. K. Winslow, the entomology collection of John Fitzpatrick, and fish specimens from the collections of Jared P. Kirtland and Elisha Sterling. The museum continued to function until 1920, when the Cleveland Museum of Natural History was established and the various collections were transferred to it. The collection consists of minutes of meetings, notes on birds, drawings, newspaper clippings, and other papers. Among the early members were Theodatus Garlick, Jared P. Kirtland, B. A. Stanard, George A. Stanley, Elisha Sterling, and Rufus K. Winslow.

The West Side Branch was created in 1926 as an English-speaking unit for second generation Czechs, evolving into a social and cultural organization before it dissolved in 1978. The collection consists of minutes, 1926-1978, and certificates and miscellaneous materials removed from the minute books.

 Abstract:  The Slovenian National Home is a meeting place for Slovene-American social, cultural, political and athletic groups in Cleveland, Ohio. It was built in 1923-24 with funds raised by the Slovene National Benefit Society and houses the Slovenian National Library, a sokol gymnasium, meeting rooms and an auditorium. The collection consists of minutes, financial records, correspondence, membership rolls, stock certificates, and programs of the home. Includes minutes, resolutions, stock certificates, musical scores, scripts, newspaper clippings, and other papers of organizations that used the home.

 Abstract:  The Slovene National Benefit Society (Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota) is a socialist-oriented fraternal insurance society. It was founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1904 and has several branches in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1941 it absorbed another fraternal insurance society, the Slovene Progressive Benefit Society (Slovenske Svobodomiselne Zveze). The collection consists of constitutions, bylaws, minutes, account books, ledger books, membership rolls, dues books, sickness and hospital benefit records, funeral service records, and publications of the national society and four of its lodges in Cleveland, Ohio. Includes minutes of Lodge 120 of the Slovene Progressive Benefit Society (1919-1941).
