 Abstract:  John Quincy Adams Campbell was a member of the 5th Regiment of Iowa Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of three Civil War diaries. Volume 1 contains daily entries from July 9, 1861 to December 31, 1862. Volume 2 continues with January 1, 1863 to May 4, 1864, and also contains some later observations about his regiment written after 1905. Volume 3 contains entries from May 5, 1864 to November 24, 1864.
