In 1833, his second cousin, Moses Harvey, moved with his family from New London, New Hampshire to a farm in Concord Township, Lake County, Ohio (near Painesville), where he served as a county probate judge (1863-1870). Moses' son, Thomas W. Harvey (1794-1870) was a leading Ohio educator and author of grammar books and readers. The collection consists of eight letters (1826-1838) from Jonathan Harvey to Moses Harvey, concerning United States politics and John C. Calhoun; one letter (1833) from Jacob Harvey to Moses Harvey; one letter (1860) from Thomas W.
