Her son, Edward Theodore, helped her work the family farm and served as grocer and postmaster of Bluestone. Another son, Christian, traveled to Montana in 1879. Her sister, Hattie Wasserman, married Cleveland hardware dealer George Klooz. The collection consists primarily of letters (in German script) to Anna Schroeder's son, Christian.
