 Abstract:  The Charles Knowles Bolton Reminiscences, 1934, consist of a volume of reminiscences about his experiences in Cleveland, Ohio, (where he was born in 1867) during the last quarter of the 19th century. Bolton (1867-1950) was an antiquarian and librarian of the Boston Athenaeum (1898-1933).

 Abstract:  Victoria Wesnitzer was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, who attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School prior to entering Notre Dame Academy from which she graduated in 1921. During those years the Academy was located on Ansel Road in Cleveland, having recently moved from Superior Avenue and East 18th Street. After graduation she married Raymond Noonan. In 1931 she returned to her alma mater for her ten-year class reunion. She was a resident of Cleveland at the time of her death. The collection consists of a scrapbook of pamphlets, gift list, autographs, name cards, invitations, programs, clippings and cards. It also includes diary entries from the class reunion of 1931 and a history of the class. The collection pertains largely to Wesnitzer's social life during her years at Notre Dame Academy and details the activities of a young woman in the 1920s.

 Abstract:  John Whittlesey Walton (1845-1926) was a prominent Cleveland, Ohio, businessman and philanthropist, Walton started a ship chandlery business and co-founded the Upson-Walton Company in 1893. In 1867, Walton was one of the men responsible for the revival of the YMCA in Cleveland. From 1874-1926, Walton was actively involved in charity, serving during this period as treasurer of the Bethel Associated Charities. Throughout his life, Walton was keenly interested in the field of sociology and in the emerging scientific approach to social work. His daughter, Gladys Walton was involved in numerous dramatic and musical events. The collection consists of a diary of a trip by John Whittlesey Walton to the West Indies in 1895, a map charting the West Indies trip, a collection of his writings (consisting of religious hymns, poetry, and articles), correspondence, his scrapbooks, scrapbooks of Gladys Walton, and newspaper clippings.

 Abstract:  John Whittlesey Walton (1845-1926) was a co-founder of the Upson-Walton Company in Cleveland, Ohio, who was also treasurer of the Cleveland Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and a member of many other civic, charitable and literary organizations. He was descended from William Bradford on his father's side and from the Whittlesey family of Tallmadge, Ohio, on his mother's side. The collection consists of one handwritten volume containing genealogical and family history and Walton's memories of personal and national events (ca. 1845-1926).

 Abstract:  The Former Junior Federation (f. 1927) was an African American women's social club constituted of the former members of the Junior Federation in Cleveland, Ohio. It was originally called the Gertrude Fisher Club after the founder who molded a group of youngsters into an organization that gathered in each other's homes. The aims of the club were to instill an understanding of the body of culture and thought in the world, to train women to become more efficient club members and better citizens, and to promote service and philanthropy as well as social and cultural interests. In the 1950s they became members of the Council of Colored Women and renamed themselves the Junior Girls Federation. By 1965 they had again changed their name, this time to the Former Junior Federation, but continued their social, civic and friendly activities. The collection consists of a constitution, bylaws, membership rosters, minutes, financial statements, correspondence, clippings, and memorabilia.

 Abstract:  Henry Dodge was a descendant of one of the oldest families in Cleveland, Ohio, and an employee of Standard Oil of New Jersey. Dodge lived his adult life in Scarsdale, New York. The collection consists of a book of reminiscences for his children. In addition to his own life story, his book provides information on many of his family members, including his wife, Lila McClelland Dodge, his parents, Samuel Douglas Dodge and Jeannette May Groff, and his grandparents, George C. Dodge, Lucy A. Burton Dodge, Henry R. Groff, and Mary A. Sutherland Groff. The book contains references to prominent Clevelanders, including John D. Rockefeller. The collection is valuable as a sketch of the life of Henry Dodge and for the information it contains on the Dodge family and related families. Since the Dodges were a prominent Cleveland family, the material also includes information on the social life of Cleveland's upper class during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dodge's experiences in France during World War I may also be of interest.

The diaries offer detailed descriptions of activities at Western Union, Catholic religious practices, and Irish groups in Cleveland.

 Abstract:  Ella Grant Wilson (1854-1939) was a Cleveland, Ohio, florist, publicist, journalist and author. She was founder of the Floral Syndicate, a publicity service which promoted conventions and other activities of interest to the floral industry and was garden editor of the Plain Dealer. Her series in the Sunday Plain Dealer, focusing on historic Cleveland led to her book, "Famous old Euclid Avenue", featuring anecdotes, history and biographies relating to the homes and personalities of "Millionaires' Row." The collection consists of correspondence, reminiscences, writings, and memorabilia relating to Wilson's life and family, the floral industry, her organizational affiliations, and her book. There are also some genealogical materials relating to the Grant family. The collection is particularly useful to the study of women in business, the floral industry in Cleveland and the Midwest, and the history of Cleveland.
