 Abstract:  Lucinda White Brown (1822-1917) was the wife of Rev. S. J. Brown, of Perry, New York, and great-granddaughter of one of the first Universalist ministers in Maine. The collection consists of her 1854 diary that kept during a trip to the western United States.

2Title:  Butler Ives Papers

 Dates:  1850-1864 
 Abstract:  Butler Ives was a surveyor in and around Oregon City and Portland, Oregon. In 1850, Ives left Detroit, Michigan, for California and Oregon, but by 1855 was back in Michigan. In 1860, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and records of his observations are in one of these volumes. The collection consists of diaries containing meteorological observations, financial accounts, surveying notes, and other data relating to Butler's activities while surveying in Oregon and while traveling throughout the United States. Also contains letters written in 1864.

 Abstract:  Justus Lafayette Cozad (1833-1910) was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, who worked as a surveyor in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, a railroad engineer in Indianapolis, and as a partner in a land-title business in Cleveland. The collection consists of a handwritten autobiography by Cozad, two typescript copies of the autobiography, newspaper and journal articles about Cozad and his family, copies of correspondence, excerpts from Cozad's diaries, news clippings, and comments on his later years written by his daughter, Gertrude.
