His wife, Eleanor Lobdell Worthington, was the daughter of Dr. Francis Lobdell, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church and once archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York. The collection consists of various personal and professional letters of the Worthington family, and other individuals, as well as genealogical charts of the Lobdell family, newspaper clippings, and clipped autographs. The collection is largely personal in nature, being primarily correspondence between family members. A large portion is the correspondence of Eleanor Worthington and deals mainly with family and domestic issues. The Edward Worthington correspondence is also primarily of a personal nature, with some official church and business letters. In the late 1960s, the congregation merged with the Inner City Protestant Parish, an interdenominational group of congregations which met at St. John's and other churches during the 1950s and 1960s. The church is also known as St. John's Historic Episcopal Church. The collection consists of minutes of the trustees and parish council, financial information, administrative records, documents pertaining to the restoration of the church building, and files relating to the parish history.
