| | | Creator: | Reid, Isaac | | | Dates: | 1829-1862 | | | Abstract: | Isaac Reid of Dromore Parish, County Down, Ireland, emigrated with his wife, Agnes, and his children to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1832. After living for several years in Cleveland, where he worked in a small business and boarded immigrants, the family purchased eighty acres in Newburgh, where they farmed and raised cattle, hogs, and sheep. Reid and his family were members of the First Presbyterian Society of Newburgh, he serving as both trustee and treasurer for several terms throughout the 1840s-1850s. His daughters were married in Newburgh; Mary Ann to Alvah Ruggles, and Elizabeth to George Dunbar, both in 1857. George Dunbar was employed by Reid as a laborer on his farm. Both Reid, his son-in-law George Dunbar, and his grandchildren remained in Newburgh after it became a part of Cleveland. Dunbar and his eldest sons were employed in the iron industry and in local businesses, while Reid lived on Harvard Street and was employed as a laborer. Isaac Reid died in 1886. | | | Creator: | Regan, Zachariah | | | Dates: | 1808-1828 | | | Abstract: | Zachariah Regan and his family settled in Little Beaver Creek, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, in the early nineteenth century. His daughter Mary married John McLeish, who served in the 9th Ohio Independent Battery during the American Civil War. Mary and John McLeish settled in the the 18th ward of Cleveland, Ohio, by 1880, and their daughter Nannie married William Reid Dunbar at the South Presbyterian Church in 1881.
