The collection consists of letters (1861-1864), mounted in 3 scrapbooks, written by Merrick, to his wife, giving a detailed account of Merrick's activities and those of his regiment; pocket diary (1862); medical notes, financial accounts, lists of office furniture, medicines, and books; personal correspondence (1885-1901) of Richard L. Merrick, of Cleveland, Ohio; and obituary notices for Dr. Myra K.
