 Abstract:  Marilla Wells Leggett (1823-1876) was the wife of Mortimer Dormer Leggett, of Montville and Zanesville, Ohio. He commanded the 78th Ohio Volunteer Militia during the American Civil War, served as United States Commissioner of Patents (1871-1874), and practiced law in Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of eighteen diaries and miscellaneous papers. There are lengthy entries concerning trips to Mississippi (1862 and 1863-1864) and Morgan's Raiders in Ohio (1863).
