 Abstract:  The 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 18th Army Corps was under the commands of Brigadier General Hiram Burnham, Colonel E.M. Cullen, Colonel William L. Schley, Lieutenant Colonel S. Moffitt, and others, during the American Civil War. The 18th Corps was deactivated on Dec. 3, 1864. The collection consists of copies of general and special brigade orders issued for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 18th Army Corps from April 22-December 1, 1864. Also included in this volume are copies of several general and special orders issued by the commanding officers of the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 24th Army Corps (January 1-April 19, 1865).

In 1885 he was on the staff of the Governor of Iowa. The collection consists of a transcript of a court inquiry concerning a magazine explosion in Mobile, Alabama, orders, inspection reports, and lists of regiments and staff of the Department of the Gulf.

 Abstract:  Albert Trovillo Siders Barnitz was a colonel, Company G, 2nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Cavalry (later 7th U.S. Cavalry). The collection consists of orders, circulars, muster and pay rolls, quarterly and monthly returns of quartermaster stores, invoices, vouchers, and other papers, dealing primarily with Barnitz's military activities.

Includes unpublished narratives of Sigel's campaigns, a few personal letters, and others involving Sigel's enlistment of volunteers in St. Louis early in 1861.
