Rosenthal (1906-1979) was the Rabbi of the Temple on the Heights (B'nai Jeshurun Congregation) in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, from 1933 to 1976. Rabbi Rosenthal was extremely active in civic and educational organizations, and in civil rights and Zionist organizations such as the Wilberforce University Foundation, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Zionist Organization of America.
