| Abstract: | Peter Musser (ca. 1782-1852) was an officer in the War of 1812 who moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, from Frederick County, Maryland. In the 1820s he moved his family to Trumbull County, Ohio. The collection consists of correspondence, legal agreements, deeds, indentures and miscellaneous items, such as a marriage agreement, land grant, and an invitation to the funeral of James Peter Mercer (Musser), the son of Peter Musser. The collection pertains to the Musser family and other early settlers of Columbiana and Trumbull counties, Ohio. Many of the deeds and agreements are in the collection because Peter Musser witnessed them. An inventory included in the collection lists all the names from these documents. Also included is a Civil War letter written to James Banning of the 28th Pennsylvania Infantry. | |
