 Abstract:  Abraham Tappan (1779-1855) was a surveyor and postmaster of Unionville, Ohio, during the nineteenth century. The collection includes correspondence relating to land transactions, surveys and politics in the Western Reserve; and field notes made by Tappan while surveying Henry Champion's land in Concord Township, the road from the Muskingum River to Lake Erie, the road from the mouth of the Grand River to Warren, Ohio, and areas west of the Cuyahoga River and north of the Tuscarawas River.

 Abstract:  The collection consists of notes, surveys, and maps of land in Ashtabula, Batavia, Braceville, Brecksville, Chardon, Coitsville, Concord, Ellsworth, Fowler, Guilford, Howland, Leffingwell, Liberty, Liverpool, Monroe, Newbury, Newton, Parkman, Ravenna, Richfield, Southington, and York, Ohio. Most of these surveys of land located in the Western Reserve were made by Wolcott for General Simon Perkins.

 Abstract:  Clarence H. Hutchinson was an assistant engineer in the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Surveyor's Office. The collection consists of surveys, deeds, contracts, township and county records, and notes, relating to the history of road construction in the Western Reserve, acquired by Hutchinson under the auspices of the Ohio Historical Records Survey of the Works Progress Administration. Includes material on taverns and hotels in Cleveland.
