He became an Ohio Militia colonel, justice of the peace, deputy sheriff of Geauga County, and an early settler of Le Roy Township in Lake County. His son, Henry, held a number of township and county offices, including justice of the peace and Lake County Commissioner. The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, account and docket books, financial papers, deeds, land agreements, and other legal papers, estate papers, newspaper clippings, and other family and personal papers, of Hendrick, Charles, Eleazar, and Henry Paine. Includes letters, documents, memoranda, and other genealogical material of Mary D.
