Preston wrote about local, state and national issues, as well as the trivial and commonplace. He began his newspaper career at the Cleveland News in 1937, but joined the Plain Dealer when the News was sold in 1960. The collection consists of forty-one scrapbooks, containing Preston's editorials and letters of congratulations.
