He came to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1898 and married Molly Rice in 1900. He was a member of the garment cutters union and briefly participated in the strike of 1911. The collection consists of correspondence (primarily in German with typed English transcriptions), detailing the Cleveland garment industry strike of 1911. Except for one letter from Molly Koenig, the letters were written by Ignatz Koenig to his wife and children.
