He was instrumental in creating the Bureau of Jewish Education and the Jewish Welfare Fund. The collection consists of a published memoir, "Why doncha write a book", an anecdotal account of Goldhamer's experiences as Federation director, correspondence, speech texts, published and unpublished writings, annual Federation reports, a testimonial scrapbook, and clippings. The speech texts include radio talks by Goldhamer with related correspondence, and speeches Goldhamer wrote for others. Sinai Hospital, the Jewish Children's Bureau, Euclid Avenue Temple Sisterhood, and the Federation of Jewish Women's Organizations. She organized sabbath services for patients at Sunny Acres Sanitarium for tuberculosis patients, coordinating this program from the 1920s into the 1950s. The collection consists of correspondence, sisterhood uniongrams, reports, speeches, clippings, memorabilia and certificates. The uniongrams date to Feb. 14, 1950, when Hattie Dettelback was honored by the Federation of Jewish Women's Organizations. The collection consists of correspondence relating to business and family matters, including his sisters' immigration and relatives in the armed forces during World War I; legal documents relating to the business partnership between Nickman and Hiram S. Rivitz and to the Nickman's property on Eddington Road; financial records from Howard-Granger Realty Company, H.S. In 1929, she became the first African-American elected to the Cleveland Board of Education. Martin came to Cleveland from Raleigh, North Carolina in 1886. She received a degree from Western Reserve University in 1903 and began her teaching career in Birmingham, Alabama. Returning to Cleveland, she married attorney Alexander H. Martin in 1905. She died shortly after being elected to a third term on the Board of Education in 1939. An elementary school at East 82nd and Brookline in Cleveland was named in her honor in 1962. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, cards, programs, campaign materials, telegrams, announcements and correspondence, dealing primarily with her election to the Cleveland Board of Education and her death in 1939.
