Millard and Son from 1887-1917, and Millard, Son, and Raper Co. after 1917. William C. Millard was a founding member of the Fairmount Club, a gentlemen's social club. It merged with the Retail Clerks International Association in 1979 to form the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. District 427 established the Community Health Foundation in 1964, with the cooperation of the Retail Clerks Local 880. The Foundation merged with Kaiser in 1969. He returned in 1800 with a colonizing party which included his family. David Jr. and Anner Mary were two of his children. | | | Creator: | Jarzynski, Ignatius M. | | | Dates: | 1904-1942 | | | Abstract: | Ignatius M. Jarzynski (1888-1942) was a physician prominent in the Polish-American community of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a founding member of the Medical and Dental Arts Club, president of the League of Polish Organizations, and a trustee of the Musical Arts Association. His wife, Helen Conrad Jarzynski, was also active in Polish organizations, as well as serving on the Women's Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra. The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, publications, and certificates relating to Dr. Jarzynski's career, and, in part, to that of his wife. The correspondence, 1917-1942, includes letters from Ohio Attorney General John W. Bricker regarding draft board examinations during World War I, and an acknowledgment of condolences from Ignace Jan Paderewski. Becoming University Circle, Incorporated in 1970, it operated under a 20-year master development plan to preserve the physical environment and reinforce the commitment of members to the area. UCI, Inc. serves as a "land bank" for its members, purchasing, leasing and maintaining properties, and reselling land to members to further their development and promote common purposes. UCI, Inc. also acts as a land use and development consultant, initiating and overseeing construction and assisting environmental and historic preservation projects. It maintains parking facilities, a bus service, and a private security service for the area. It has also entered into urban revitalization projects and cultural, educational, and medical programs in order to strengthen and stimulate relationships with the surrounding communities, particularly the Hough and Fairfax areas. Neil J. Carothers served as UCI's first president, followed by Joseph Pigott, Oliver Brooks, Murray Davidson, and others. Rainey Memorial Institute is one of the oldest settlement houses in Cleveland, Ohio, first organized by Anna Edwards as a reading and lunch room for boys and workmen in Cleveland's East 55th Street and Superior Avenue area. The institute was named for Eleanor Rainey, whose financial support helped found the settlement in 1904. Following the death of Anna Edwards in 1923, her sister Flora served as director until 1949. The institute joined the Neighborhood Settlement Association in 1959. Since 1967, the institute has attempted to achieve its goals through music, doing so in cooperation with the Cleveland Music School Settlement. Moses' son, Thomas W. Harvey (1794-1870) was a leading Ohio educator and author of grammar books and readers. The collection consists of eight letters (1826-1838) from Jonathan Harvey to Moses Harvey, concerning United States politics and John C. Calhoun; one letter (1833) from Jacob Harvey to Moses Harvey; one letter (1860) from Thomas W.
