 Abstract:  Harold H. Burton (1888-1964) was mayor of Cleveland, Ohio (1935-1940). When he was elected to the United States Senate in 1940 he chose Edward Blythin (1884-1958) to fill the remainder of his last term as mayor (1941). The collection consists of office files of the mayor of Cleveland containing correspondence, reports, speeches, proclamations, and newspaper clippings, relating to routine administrative matters and topics of special interest.

 Abstract:  The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, a youth service club, was introduced into Ohio in 1932, when a chapter was founded in Cleveland. As more chapters were founded the state was organized into two regions, Greater Ohio and Southern Ohio-Kentucky. The collection consists of office files of the Ohio B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, containing constitutions, correspondence, memos, publications, posters, and plans, including national information and records of local Cleveland B'nai B'rith Youth Organization chapters.

 Abstract:  Constantine Benderoff (1870-1955) was a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, who joined the Imperial Ministry of Justice. The Bolsheviks abolished his position in 1918 and imprisoned him twice in 1919. In 1920 he left Russia with his family. They settled in Denver, Colorado, in 1921. In 1936 Benderoff joined his daughters who had moved to Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of the original typed Russian manuscript and a typed English translation prepared by Benderoff's daughter, Olga.

 Abstract:  Yeshivath Adath B'nai Israel was incorporated in 1917 as an Orthodox afternoon Hebrew school in Cleveland, Ohio. It later merged with the Oheb Zedek School (1948), the Torah Institute of the Telshe Yeshivath (1949), and the Kinsman, Marmarosher, and Heights Jewish Centers in 1951, 1956 and 1958 respectively. The collection consists of minutes, reports, correspondence, constitution, articles of incorporation, teacher and student records, budgets, tax and payroll records, ledgers, insurance and membership records, yearbooks, and records of other Hebrew schools, Yeshivath Adath B'nai Israel branches, and institutions associated with Yeshivath Adath B'nai Israel, such as the Bureau of Jewish Education and the Jewish Community Federation.

 Abstract:  The Montefiore Home was established in 1882 in Cleveland, Ohio, by the Kesher Shel Barzel Order (Band of Iron), District Grand Lodge No. 4, and called the Aged and Infirm Israelites Home. In 1884 it was renamed the Sir Moses Montefiore Kesher Home for Aged and Infirm Israelites. In 1923 it became simply the Montefiore Home. The collection consists of minutes, correspondence, administrative reports and records, staff memos and lists, departmental reports, records of auxiliary organizations, residents files, audits, ledgers and other financial records, and subject files relating to the Home's interaction with other agencies such as the Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes for Aged, Inc., the Jewish Community Federation, the Jewish Family Service Association, United Appeal of Greater Cleveland, the Welfare Federation of Cleveland, the White House Conference on Aging, and Julius and Helen Weil.

 Abstract:  Ignatz Koenig (1866-1925) was an Hungarian soldier in the Austro-Hungarian army. He came to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1898 and married Molly Rice in 1900. He was a member of the garment cutters union and briefly participated in the strike of 1911. The collection consists of correspondence (primarily in German with typed English transcriptions), detailing the Cleveland garment industry strike of 1911. Except for one letter from Molly Koenig, the letters were written by Ignatz Koenig to his wife and children. Also included are two military identification books documenting his service in the Austro-Hungarian army.

 Abstract:  Emanuel Stern (b. 1910) was a Cleveland, Ohio, native who helped organize a local branch of the Bʻnai Bʻrith youth organization, Aleph Zadik Aleph, in 1932. He became a leader in Bʻnai Bʻrith activities, especially within AZA. The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous materials including certificates, programs and bulletins. The papers relate primarily to Stern's work with Jewish youth in Cleveland and to his role in the formation of the Cleveland branch of AZA.

 Abstract:  Robert Hanna (1789-1854) was the first white child born in Lynchburg, (West) Virginia. His family moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1801. He became a circuit-riding minister for the Methodist Church. His great nephew, Marcus A. Hanna, became a United States Senator. The collection consists of an autobiography, a daily journal of his activities as a minister, clippings, genealogical material, sermons, scattered correspondence, a license to perform marriages, and scattered notes on the John Kersey Wharry branch of the family (ca. 1938).

The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, mementos, unpublished short stories and poetry, and other materials relating to the World War I experiences and artistic career of Paul Travis, and to the genealogy of Marjorie Penfield Travis. Includes diaries and correspondence of her grandparents, William L. and Lucy E. Wood.

The collection consists of a petition to enlist Baker as Chairman of the All Nations Guild Sponsoring Committee, an article written to Baker by a dissatisfied reservist, minutes of the Joint Meeting of the Council of National Defense and the Advisory Board, minutes of the Federal Power Commission, and a list of candidates for the position of chairman of the War Industries Board.

Attached at the end of the volume are copies of the original articles of incorporation, amendments to the articles, and a certification of name change.

 Abstract:  The Fifth Evangelical and Reformed Church was founded in 1876 in Cleveland, Ohio, as the Funften of Fifth Evangelical and Reformed Church. From its organization until it disbanded in 1971 the church was located on the corner of Hague Avenue and West 67th Street. The collection consists of four bound volumes of records. Volumes I and II contain the church's registers and constitution, recorded in German. Volume 3 contains the minutes of the governing board of the church's Sunday School, also in German. Volume 4 contains a later register, recorded in English.
