 Abstract:  The Cowles family is descended from Giles Hooker Cowles of Connecticut, who came to Austinburg, Ohio in 1811 and became the first resident minister in the Western Reserve. The collection consists of four bound volumes containing copies of correspondence, a genealogical chart, vital statistics, deeds, army commissions, certificates, and clippings. Correspondents include Edwin Cowles, Alfred Cowles, Samuel Cowles, and Betsey Mix Cowles.
