She was vice-chairman and secretary of the Cuyahoga County Republican Central and Executive Committees, chairman of the Republican Women's Organization of Cuyahoga County, member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, a Cleveland precinct committeewoman, and a member of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women's Clubs. She was a United States Customs Collector before running unsuccessfully for Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio, state senator and Clerk of the Cleveland Municipal Court.
