| | | Creator: | Emerson, Caleb Family | | | Dates: | 1795-1905 | | | Abstract: | Caleb Emerson was a Marietta, Ohio lawyer, journalist and abolitionist, and co-founder of the Marietta Branch of the Washington Benevolent Society. He married Mary Dana, the daughter of an early settler of Washington County. Their son, George Dana, was a captain in the 1st Michigan Engineers during the Civil War. Their son-in-law, William D. Bailey was Treasurer of Warren Township, Ohio.
