 Abstract:  The United States War Department was the government department responsible for the prosecution of World War I. One of its duties was the submission of weekly intelligence summaries for the information of the Secretary of War and the Chief of Staff. The collection consists of eighteen volumes of weekly war intelligence reports. The first eight volumes (numbered I-VIII) were prepared by Captain William K. Wallace, between June 2, 1917 and October 5, 1918, and have a spine title: "Weekly Intelligence Summaries." The next ten volumes (numbered VI-XV) were prepared by the Military Intelligence Division, General Staff, War Department, between October 12, 1918 and February 26, 1921, and have a spine title: "The European War."
