 Abstract:  Clara Pearl Smith (1917-2009) was a civil rights activist and social worker in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, during the 1950s and 1960s. She was president of the East 88th Street Club and the Wade Superior Neighborhood Association and co-founded the the Hough Area Council and the Bell Neighborhood Branch of Gannett Goodrich House. The collection consists of 36 black and white and color photographs and one CD-ROM disk.

 Abstract:  Samuel S. Perry was a lawyer, mayor of Woodmere, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, and head of the Technical and Feasibility Department of the Hough Development Corporation. Perry was a Republican candidate for Cuyahoga County Commissioner in 1966. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, reports and, especially, news clippings. The collection primarily concerns Perry's tenure as mayor of Woodmere, Ohio, focusing on building and zoning problems faced by the community, the role of blacks in local government and the effectiveness of black and white coalition politics.
