 Abstract:  The Polish-American Library Home was established about 1924 and also known as the Polish-American Progressive Club. It served as a library for Polish readers and as the site of meetings and social activities for the Cleveland, Ohio, Polish immigrant community. It was enlarged in 1948 and was active until 1972. The collection consists of minutes of the Home's directorate and common sessions, financial records, bank pass books, certificates, correspondence, membership applications, statute and constitution booklets, rental receipts, and plans for alterations and an addition to the building.

 Abstract:  The Polonaise Arts Club was founded in 1949 to stimulate the Polish-American artistic community in Cleveland, Ohio, and to foster an appreciation of the arts in general. The Club also solicited donations for a permanent scholarship fund to the Cleveland Institute of Art, beginning in 1951. The Polonaise Arts Club was affiliated with the American Council of Polish Cultural Clubs. The collection consists of correspondence, committee lists, catalogs, lists of exhibitors, publicity materials, forms, guest registers of the club's 1st (1950) through 12th (1962) art exhibitions, early membership applications and lists, incomplete meeting notices (1949-1953), and personal correspondence of club president Elizabeth Nicka (1963).

 Abstract:  The Cleveland Society was founded in 1923 and composed of American businessmen and professionals of Polish descent in the Cleveland, Ohio, area who promoted citizenship and fostered the language, traditions and culture of Poland. The group was a spin-off organization of the Polish National Alliance. In addition to sponsoring an annual debutante ball, the membership raised money for Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio. The collection consists of a constitution, membership roster, minutes, correspondence, programs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings. The collection is relevant to the study of an elite ethnic social club that tried to assimilate some of the characteristics of upper class American society while simultaneously retaining their cultural identity.

 Abstract:  The Polish National Alliance of the United States is a major fraternal-insurance organization which was established in 1880. Besides providing affordable insurance, the Alliance promotes Polish culture through language schools, singing societies, and similar artistic organizations. Its clientele is still largely composed of people of Polish extraction. The collection consists of booklets and programs of testimonial dinners and anniversary events.

 Abstract:  The Polish Library Home was located on Kenilworth Avenue in the Cleveland, Ohio, Tremont neighborhood. It housed a large collection of Polish literature and served as a meeting place for Polish groups, including several lodges of the Polish National Alliance, a fraternal insurance organization which sought to preserve Polish culture and worked for the re-establishment of a free Poland. The home closed in 1984. The collection consists of minute books, dues books, and an account book of the home. Also included are minute books, ledger books, dues books, and insurance rolls of the Polish National Alliance, Groups 171, 229, 861 and 2584.

 Abstract:  Frank Nowak (1888-1973) was a Polish tailor who immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1910 and later opened his own tailor shop. The collection consists of minute books, correspondence, financial records, local anniversary publications and music relating to Polish-American groups in Cleveland, and papers relating to the Nowak family.

 Abstract:  Ignatius M. Jarzynski (1888-1942) was a physician prominent in the Polish-American community of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a founding member of the Medical and Dental Arts Club, president of the League of Polish Organizations, and a trustee of the Musical Arts Association. His wife, Helen Conrad Jarzynski, was also active in Polish organizations, as well as serving on the Women's Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra. The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, publications, and certificates relating to Dr. Jarzynski's career, and, in part, to that of his wife. The correspondence, 1917-1942, includes letters from Ohio Attorney General John W. Bricker regarding draft board examinations during World War I, and an acknowledgment of condolences from Ignace Jan Paderewski. In addition, the collection contains the minutes, 1916-1922, of the Medical and Dental Arts Club, handwritten in Polish, mimeographed minutes, 1934-1939, of the annual meetings of the Musical Arts Association, and miscellaneous materials relating to the League of Polish Organizations.
