 Abstract:  Frederick A. Bacon was a midshipman in the United States Navy who served on board the frigates Constitution and Shark. The collection consists of a journal kept by Bacon which records shipboard incidents and observations on places he toured and on museums and historic buildings he visited in Gibraltar, Lisbon, Genoa, Rome, Florence, Naples, and Athens.
