 Abstract:  Picket Latimer and his brothers, Peter and John Mulford Latimer, were farmers in Huron County, Ohio. Picket and John also operated a general store, P. & J.M. Latimer, in Norwalk, Ohio. John's son, John Mulford Latimer, Jr., served as a captain in the 101st Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. The collection consists of photocopies of letters written to Picket Latimer regarding the business operations of his general store in the 1840s and copies of John Mulford Latimer, Jr.'s American Civil War service records.

Topics include Holcomb's experiences as an army musician during the Civil War and the history of the First Congregational Church of Painesville.
