 Abstract:  Baldwin Wallace College is a Methodist-affiliated liberal arts college in Berea, Ohio. It was founded in 1837 as the Berea Seminary, a part of the Lyceum Community commune. In 1846 it was chartered as the Baldwin Institute and in 1855 it became Baldwin University. Its German Department (est. 1857) withdrew to form German Wallace College in 1863. In 1913 the two schools merged as Baldwin-Wallace College. The collection consists of a copy of the memorandum of agreement and articles of incorporation uniting Baldwin University and German Wallace College, minutes of the Trustees and the Executive and Investment committees, annual reports of the president, financial statements, budgets, treasurer's reports, departmental reports, correspondence, schedules, lists of donors, by-laws, and two surveys.

 Abstract:  The History of Baldwin University and German Wallace College was written in 1945 by Clyde E. Feuchter, Hilbert T. Ficken, Adam J. Loeppert, Frances F. Mills, Bertha L. Stiefel, and Myron F. Wicke. It chronicles the development of Baldwin-Wallace College, affliated with the United Methodist Church. Baldwin University came into existence in 1855 from a series of preceding institutions that included the Berea Seminary and the Baldwin Institute. All three were created with the aid of John Baldwin. In 1863, German Wallace College was established by Baldwin University trustee James Wallace around a nucleus of the Baldwin University Department of German. The two merged in 1913 to create Baldwin-Wallace College. The collection consists of a typescript of seven chapters covering the years 1790-1913 and including narrative on the early settlement of Berea,Ohio, the establishment of both institutions, and early student life.

 Abstract:  Theodore M. Luntz was born on June 4, 1926 in Canton, Ohio, to Abe M. and Fanny Luntz, a prominent Jewish couple in the Canton community. He was one of five children. He attended University School and Yale University. He graduated from Yale in 1948. He served in the army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. He married Idarose Schock on August 23, 1953. They had four children, Wanda Jean, Pamela, Brian, and Jill. Luntz began his career at Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio. After one year he joined his family's business, the Luntz Corporation, one of the United States' premiere scrap and steel brokerage firms. He rose through different positions including treasurer, executive vice president, and eventually became president in 1984. He went on to become chief executive officer and chairman of Luntz Corporation. He also served as president, treasurer, and director of Marquette Steel Company (a division of Luntz) and as vice president of 62 Land Inc. Ted, like his father Abe, was very active in the community, serving on the boards of many of the same organizations as his father. Some of these organizations include the Schnurmann House, Cathedral Latin School, Hawken School, National Conference of Christians and Jews, Montefiore Home, Boy Scouts, The Temple, and the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel. He became a member of the board of trustees of Baldwin-Wallace College in 1979. He and his wife Idarose established both a scholarship fund and the Ted and Idarose Luntz Musical Theatre Fund, an endowment, for the benefit of Baldwin-Wallace students and the Musical Theatre Program. This continued the Luntz Family association with Baldwin Wallace started by Ted's father, Abe, who received an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Baldwin-Wallace in 1974. The collection consists of agendas, agreements, applications, biographical information, brochures, bulletins, certificates, charts, correspondence, directories, forms, genealogical charts, invitations, lists, magazine articles, maps, memoranda, minutes, newsletters, newspaper articles, notes, position papers, press releases, programs, questionnaires, reports, song lyrics, speech texts, and testimony.

 Abstract:  The Jewish Community Federation is a central policy making and fundraising agency for the Jewish community of Cleveland, Ohio, which traces its origin to the Federation of the Jewish Charities of Cleveland (founded 1903). The Federation of the Jewish Charities of Cleveland changed its name to the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland in 1926, and in 1930, added a fundraising arm, the Jewish Welfare Fund of Cleveland. In 1951 the Jewish Welfare Federation merged with the Jewish Community Council to become the Jewish Community Federation. The collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, trustee and committee minutes, reports, proposals, newspaper clippings, wills, and financial records. Records are organized into three series consisting of administrative files, endowment funds, and social planning and research.
