 Abstract:  Jozsef Remenyi (1891-1956) was a Hungarian-born author, educator, newspaper editor, and professor of comparative literature at Western Reserve University (1929-1956) in Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of letters from 27 well-known literary figures to Remenyi, tributes, and memorial services. Correspondents include James Branch Cabell, Willa S. Cather, Waldo Frank, Langston Hughes, Robert Nathan, Allen Tate, and Mark Van Doren.

 Abstract:  Benjamin F. Taylor (1819-1887) was an American journalist, lecturer, and poet who lived his last six years in Cleveland, Ohio. His wife, Lucy E. L. Taylor, was a member of the Cleveland Board of Education during the early 1900s. The collection consists of letters relating to the careers of Benjamin Franklin Taylor and his second wife Lucy E. Leaming Taylor. Includes letters (1840) from Taylor while a teacher at Brooklyn (Mich.) High School to his father, Stephen William Taylor; copies of poems and general correspondence (1861-84); original ms. of a novel, Theophilus Trent (1887); and speeches delivered by Lucy E. L. Taylor on a variety of topics relating to history, education, and culture.

 Abstract:  Charles Waddell Chesnutt (1858-1932) was a Cleveland, Ohio, court reporter, novelist and short story writer. He was the first African American novelist and short story writer to win recognition on a nationwide scale. The collection consists of correspondence, copies of speeches and writings, newspaper clippings, invitations, programs, photographs and other papers relating to Chesnutt's activities as a court reporter and writer.
