He settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1837, but soon moved to Ohio. His family moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1801. He became a circuit-riding minister for the Methodist Church. His great nephew, Marcus A. Hanna, became a United States Senator.
