Clark was a partner in the law firm of Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey, 1913-38, before opening his own law office in 1938. He served with the American Committee to Negotiate Peace after World War I. In addition, he was active in numerous civic and cultural organizations, including the Educational Museum of the Cleveland Public Schools, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Metroparks. He received many honorary degrees and civic awards, including the Migel Medal from the American Foundation for the Blind for work on the William Terry Touch Alphabet. | | | Creator: | John Huntington Fund for Education | | | Dates: | 1889-1992 | | | Abstract: | The John Huntington Fund For Education was created in 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, upon the sale of the John Huntington Polytechnic Institute and from annual grants from the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust. These annual grants terminated in 1971, when the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust gave the John Huntington Fund For Education a one-time grant of 9 million dollars. The John Huntington Fund For Education gave individual scholarship grants to students pursuing scientific and vocational education until 1972, after which they gave grants to educational institutions and scholarship programs. The collection consists of minutes, annual reports, financial statements, correspondence, grant proposals and reports, articles of incorporation, legal petitions, newspaper clippings, tax returns, histories, and photocopies of the will and codicil of John Huntington.
