| | | | Creator: | Sedgwick, Stephen James | | | | Dates: | 1604-1904 | | | | Abstract: | Stephen James Sedgwick (b. 1820) was a teacher and photographer who compiled genealogical materials on the Sedgwick family. In 1865 he joined the Photographic Corps of the Union Pacific Railroad and traveled the route west of the Missouri River, shooting photographs for a history of the region. The experience led to a series of lectures and exhibitions throughout the eastern United States. The collection consists of a genealogical scrapbook and miscellaneous papers, including charts, clippings, photographs, biographical sketches, certificates, and copies of letters, 1604-1904. Also included are 1878 and 1879 brochures from Sedgwick's lecture series.
