| Abstract: | Henry Haynes was a Streetsboro, Ohio, resident who was a glass blower, and later a farmer. He was the son of Edward Haynes, a glass packer. The collection consists of diaries of Henry Haynes which detail aspects of the glass blowing industry in the late 19th century, including work hours, production of glass, and working conditions. In addition, the diaries discuss Haynes' agricultural endeavors, with comments on animal care and farming techniques, and weather conditions, social activities, income and expenses, local gossip, and neighborhood relations. Also included are transcripts of the diaries by Haynes or his father. | |
