| | Abstract: | The Ohio Committee for Civil Rights Legislation lobbied for equal employment and fair housing legislation for Ohio, originally know as the Ohio Committee for Fair Employment Practices Legislation. The collection consists of correspondence, financial records, copies of legislation, lists of political figures and their positions on HB 308, newsletters, newspaper clippings, and statements of support or opposition. The collection includes the text of HB 308, the Ohio Fair Housing Bill, which was passed in 1963, a New York State civil rights act of 1962, and a letter from Ohio Governor James Rhodes pledging support for the bill. | |
