Abstract: | Cleveland, Ohio, had used water from Lake Erie since 1856 through a series of tunnels under the lake from the city. A new water crib (Crib Number 5), located 4 miles into Lake Erie from the city's West Side shoreline, was built to replace the existing water crib (Number 4), which lay much closer to the shoreline. The collection consists of three albums of over 200 photographs taken during the construction of Crib Number 5 and connecting tunnel underneath Lake Erie. | ||
