 Abstract:  The Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) was established in 1969 by an agreement between the National Park Service, the Library of Congress, and the American Society of Civil Engineers to document historic engineering and industrial sites throughout the country. The collection consists of photographs and negatives of steam engines at United States Steel Company in Youngstown, Ohio. Berni Rich of Cleveland, Ohio took the photographs in 1981 of seven dismantled historic stationary engines at the Youngstown plant of Untied States Steel. Included in the collection is a statement of provenance, including a detailed description of the engines in the photographs provided by HAER.
