 Abstract:  Sol Kahn (born 1911) was an immigrant from France who worked for the Cuyahoga County Relief Administration and later the Cleveland Board of Education's Bureau of Attendance. He was the Board's representative to Juvenile Court and was assigned to the Collinwood district, handling attendance and security problems during the 1960s riots. The collection consists of histories of the Cleveland Public Schools and Bureau of Attendance, writings and memorabilia of Kahn, records and clippings relating to the Schools and the Bureau, documents from Juvenile Court and the Cleveland Boys School, reports and clippings on juvenile delinquency, and a Collinwood High scrapbook (1960s-1970s) with flyers from Black Unity House and the National Association for the Advancement of White People, and a Ku Klux Klan pamphlet.

 Abstract:  Community Action for Youth was a social services agency in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, created through a federal matching grant from the President's Committee on Juvenile Delinquency and Youth Crime in 1963. Its goals included the reduction of juvenile delinquency and poverty through increased social services, educational opportunities, and job training. The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, financial documents, memoranda, minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, notes, papers, proposals, reports, speeches, and statements.

 Abstract:  S. Sterling McMillan was an economist, professor at Western Reserve University, and founder of Predicasts. McMillan authored several books and was involved with numerous philanthropic and social welfare organizations in Cleveland, Ohio, serving as a trustee and financial consultant. The collection consists of meeting agendas, annual reports, correspondence, financial statements, minutes, newsletters and reports of various social agencies in which McMillan had an interest. The bulk of the material pertains to the Cleveland Welfare Federation, but the collection also includes material of the Cleveland Homemaker Service Association, Cleveland Council on World Affairs, the Golden Age Center of Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Associated Foundation, Health Fund of Greater Cleveland, and Sagamore Hills Children's Psychiatric Hospital Citizens' Advisory Committee.

 Abstract:  The Federation for Community Planning was founded in 1913 as the Federation for Charity and Philanthropy, to coordinate funding for the numerous charities in Cleveland, Ohio. It merged with the Welfare Council of Cleveland in 1917 to form the Cleveland Welfare Federation. In 1972 it became the Federation for Community Planning. By 1919 it had given up solicitation of funds and by 1966 their allocation also, evolving into a specialized community planning agency. Today, the organization is known as the Center for Community Solutions. The collection consists of minutes, correspondence, reports, clippings and publications of the Federation for Community Planning, the Welfare Federation, the Federation for Charity and Philanthropy and various bodies allied to these organizations, files of the executive directors Edward D. Lynde and William T. McCullough, speech texts, television and radio scripts, personnel files and news releases.
