Abstract: | B. G. Beynon was a lieutenant in the Royal Marines who served on board H.M.S. Menelaus during the War of 1812. Under the command of Sir Peter Parker, the Menelaus participated in the British expedition in Chesapeake Bay and up the Potomac and Patuxent rivers. Beynon and the Marines he commanded landed in Baltimore, where they had several encounters with enemy forces. The collection consists of a detailed day-by-day account of Beynon's experiences in the Chesapeake Bay area during the War of 1812. | ||
